What can go wrong
Things break. Here's what we do when they do. In every case, money that's owed to someone stays owed to them.
| If | Then |
|---|---|
| A payment provider closes our account | Payments on that provider's rails pause and balances keep accruing. We move those rails to another provider or the payout desk, and publish the change. Nothing owed is lost; the ledger isn't at the provider. |
| A rail is down (UPI outage, bank holiday) | Payments queue and show "Queued" on the receipt. They send when the rail is back. People can switch to another rail at any time. |
| A payment bounces | The money goes back into the person's balance and the receipt says "Failed". We retry at the next milestone or weekly payout, or they can fix their details. |
| A country becomes blocked | Claims to that country pause. Money waits in people's names for the usual 90 days, then goes to a charity in their names. If the block lifts, claims reopen. |
| A claim is under review | The money stays in the person's name, the post waits, and a person reviews it, usually within 24 hours. |
| X changes or breaks Sign in with X | Claims pause (the money waits). The 90-day clocks pause too, so nobody loses a balance because they couldn't sign in. We'd add a second way to prove a handle, announced publicly first. |
| X changes its API prices | Posting costs about $0.015 per post, or $0.20 with a link (Sep 2026). If that changes, we keep posting claims and expiries and cut everything else first. |
| pump.fun changes fee sharing | Coins already configured keep working, because their config is locked on-chain. New launches follow pump.fun's new flow. We update the launcher and this page. |
| pump.fun's admin overrides a coin's fee split | pump.fun's program lets its own admin change a sharing config. The router re-checks every listed coin on-chain every hour. If a split ever stops paying the treasury 100%, that coin is taken off the router and stops being credited. What was already credited stays owed. |
| A launch stops halfway | The coin exists but its fee split wasn't set, so its fees go to the creator's wallet. It isn't listed. The launcher offers "Finish the fee split" with the same wallet. |
| Someone else runs pump.fun's distribute | Nothing changes: it can only pay the locked split, which is the treasury. The router notices the vault emptied and keeps counting from there. |
| SOL's price drops | Balances don't change. They're set in dollars at the moment each fee is credited. |
| X Money goes global | Good for everyone. Where it's available, X Money becomes one more rail beside UPI or M-Pesa, and people choose. |
| Anywhere shuts down | Every balance is paid out to people who claimed. Unclaimed balances go to their country charities, in their names, early. Nothing is kept. The ledger stays public. |
What we'll never do
| Never |
|---|
| Keep an unclaimed balance |
| Take a fee on money given to charity |
| Pay anything to holders of $ANYWHERE |
| Change a coin's fee destination (we can't: it's locked on-chain) |
| Send money anywhere a person didn't choose or publish themselves |
